MODERN MINDFUL THERAPY

ABOUT

MY BACKGROUND

ABOUT ME

I'm an Asian American therapist (2nd Gen) with a passion in supporting and witnessing my clients discover their best selves. I practice therapy from a trauma informed and attachment based/ relational lens. So many of our present day challenges (e.g., relationships, work, self-esteem, identity, etc.) have roots in the developmental experiences of our self and connection to others. I have a soft spot for parents who are in the unique capacity to heal and learn while nurturing the next generation.

I've been a therapist for over a decade but I continue to learn what I can from the world of therapy in addition to growing alongside my clients. It's for this reason I also enjoy integrating other modalities including attachment focused EMDR or internal family systems (IFS) when processing and healing from traumatic experiences. My therapeutic presence is best described as accepting, encouraging, and grounding in support of your exploration and expression of your authentic self.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
EXPERIENCE

My own professional journey began in Los Angeles public mental health where I treated diverse populations of couples, young adults, adults, and older adults with persistent anxiety, depression, PTSD, thought disorders, and co-occurring substance use disorders. It was the beginning of my understanding of the necessity of trauma informed and culturally-sensitive practices. Eventually I returned home to NYC where I discovered that my service to others and to my own best self blossom in the realm of private practice.

I have received formal and extensive training in and can provide treatment in the following modalities:

  • Attachment-focused EMDR for PTSD, phobias, and relational or complex trauma

  • Maternal Mental Health for perinatal and postpartum challenges

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Mindfulness based interventions

  • University of Southern California, Master of Social Work '14

  • New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker: #086682

  • California State Licensed Clinical Social Worker: # 126038
